After the TARDIS brings the Doctor, Vicki and Steven to a barren planet, they encounter a strange machine they call a Chumbley. Soon, the trio are caught up in a battle between the striking Drahvins and the mysterious Rills, both of whom need the Doctor's help escaping the planet which is soon to explode.
